A REVOLUTIONARY APPROACH

We've learned that conventional approaches cannot deliver the teamwork and leadership methods most needed today. In fact, the secret to building the best leaders and most effective teams is neither team building or organizational development, but the ability to unlock the whole person at all levels of collaboration and work.

What does this mean, in reality? Every leader can learn to do this; it's just a matter of learning and practice. That's why we created TeamWiser. TeamWiser builds capacity and competency for efficient, practical, smooth, and creative teamwork in seven distinct domains. Not theory, not "frameworks" — this is real-life know-how for both immediate use AND lifelong capacity building.

Immersive And Learn-By-Doing

Part Bootcamp and part Practice Studio, TeamWiser takes you step by step through seven essential disciplines that systematically build rock solid teamwork and leadership foundations in any challenging or aspirational context.

Each Module contains exercises that immerse your team into the precise experiences and insights that enable you to transform your thorniest challenges and build capacities and skills for resilience, connection, and creativity. The exercises are deep, field-tested, and meant to be used again and again to continue evolving and growing your team’s skills and capacities.

Beautifully and meticulously designed, TeamWiser is a practical, effective, and nourishing course. All course pages, resources, and materials can be viewed on any device. The modules and slides can also be printed or projected to share with your team.

THE TEAMWISER WAY

Three "pillars" run through TeamWiser: an essential worldview shift, personal and team capacity development, and creativity competency. Here are the details.

PILLAR ONE: WORLDVIEW SHIFT - THE RED PILL

The problem with most approaches to team building and leadership development is that they focus on strategies, methods, and frameworks and don't attend to the human factors always at play. If methods and frameworks alone were sufficient, more change efforts would be resilient and creative enough to effectively address their toughest challenges. This pillar orients to the emerging paradigm of including the whole human at all scales — a radical revision of what it means to establish personal and team capabilities and practices. This is the "red pill" — a reference to the cult film "The Matrix" — because once you enter this new paradigm of teamwork, you can't and won't want to go back to old conventions.

PILLAR TWO: PERSONAL AND TEAM CAPACITY BUILDING

One of the key reasons leaders and their teams fail to realize their intended impact is that they believe they can address 21st century challenges with 20th century ideas and methods. Being fit for purpose and earning the wisdom needed to create new social realities requires leaders and teams to transform the ways of working and being that don't serve them and strengthen the capacities needed to endure uncertainty and bring new solutions to life. We show you how to build personal, relationship, and collective capacities and capabilities so that you can truly be a united force for good — instead of "guessing guides" — leaders who hope their team and leadership will be enough to win the day.

PILLAR THREE: CREATIVITY COMPETENCY

Most people think of creativity as the magic power to have the next big idea, solve tough problems, or worse, something only something artists have. Like many top Fortune 500 CEOs around the world, we've learned that creativity is one of the most important skill sets for change leaders and social entrepreneurs. Creativity is about creation, the very human ability to bring new realities to life. Creativity competency teaches you the crucial know-how, tools, and disciplines for navigating the enormous complexity of reality and bringing your regenerative and healing intentions to life.

These three pillars together help you create the truly capable team; by synthesizing your teams' strategic, tactical, transformative, and creative strengths so that the very fabric and gestalt of your team and company culture becomes itself a powerful force for good.

Who Should Take TeamWiser?

TeamWiser is for leaders who have experienced the limits of their knowledge about how to build teams that can succeed. They find conventional wisdom about building a team and company culture insufficient to keep pace with the challenges, and need a revolutionary method so they can build extraordinary teams and have the impact they've dedicated their lives to achieving.

TeamWiser is for you if:

1. You have built a team before but experienced the pain of rupture because of interpersonal dynamics, misfired communication, and some other fault-lines. You're committed to finding wiser and more effective ways to heal and transform them.

2. You want to be able to do more to support your team than just kombucha on tap and Thursday night softball games. You've found that team-building games and retreats have not had the long term effectiveness you've needed, and you're wary of them. You want something effective, deep, and lasting.

3. You're committed to social change out in the world and want to "walk your talk" right there within your own team and company.

4. You want to build a community of change makers, in fellowship and pulling together toward a shared vision. You want that feeling of close collegueship and trust that ideally should come with sharing your work together. You want to feel genuine love and joy when working with your team.

"Magenta is a trusted partner. They are helping us learn how to identify the visible and invisible causes, sources, and structures of violent conflicts, and how to confront and transform ideologies, traumas, and legacies of colonialism and racism that propagate and sustain intractable conflicts. We look forward to working more with Magenta to support peacebuilding around the world."

— Bryan Sims, Investment Manager, Humanity United

"I have known Jeff and Louisa for more than twenty years.  They are next generation luminaries who carry forward everything I have spent my life advancing: practical and spiritual insights into the nature of being human that provide meaningful ways forward on the most pressing and challenging issues of our times — paths that nourish the best in humanity across all boundaries, political, cultural and otherwise."

— Miha Pogacnik, Cultural Ambassador of Slovenia

HOW TEAMWISER WORKS

How do you create an online course that can walk a team through experiences that actually transform leadership and teamwork? That was the challenge we set ourselves.

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT

We understand the importance of not only experiential learning, but also that practice — the repetition of the new concepts in order to integrate and then know how to apply them in real world situations — is what we needed to provide.

The end result is seven Modules that are each comprised of two sections: the introduction and theory to the topic of that Module, and a carefully designed exercise to run with your team. The exercises are chosen to be used over and over again, for the life of your team.

Its important that the exercises help build new capabilities into your team in a concrete way. There's no transformation without transformation (as our teacher Dennis Klocek used to say), and practicing regularly and often is how that transformation is going to happen.

PRINT, SHARE, AND EXERCISE TOGETHER

TeamWiser is designed to be printed out and shared with your team, Module by Module. If it is more practical to make a presentation to your team and use a slide projector when running the exercises, we've got you covered. We've created a beautiful slide deck presentation — in PowerPoint, Keynote, and also in PDF form — that make running the exercises easier.

Each Module comes with one main exercise that you run with your team. You can run one Module per week over the course of seven weeks, or you can cover off each Module at a slower pace. You can take a deep dive, or run the exercises in a lighter way. We know how busy you and your team are, and we've done our best to make the exercises do-able, while still doing justice to the topics they cover. And because they are deep, they will continue to provide sustenance for the rest of the life of your team.
