WORLDMAKER: LEARN HOW TO CREATE HEALTHY SOCIETY

A BRIEF HISTORY OF SOCIAL SCULPTURE

The art of consciously shaping society as a living "sculpture" historically belongs to the mage, the king, the governor, and most recently, the capitalist. In the 1960s, it became the subject of art. How do we heal from the war? How do we reign in the destructive forces, and enable a healthier society? These are the questions that some artists began to ask.

Gradually, public art changed from focusing on mere objects to focusing on engagement and interaction with hundreds, thousands, or millions of people. And over time, the potentials for culture to heal and renew a society became mainstream. In the 1990s, politicians used a social sculpture approach to transform Colombia and Albania, which were at the time two of the worst places to live on earth. They are thriving today thanks in part to the permanent effect these projects had.

Our team believes that such pioneering and long-lasting success stories must be taken seriously. We've spent about ten years developing a method to bring social sculpture as an inexpensive, highly effective methodology to the world — and this is what we teach as part of the WORLDMAKER program.
