I have learned to use my will/power to act in some areas of my life and yet still struggle to embody it fully, especially in the areas of nurturing and nourishing my body (healing body image, eating, and exercising) and in creating my place as a writer. I am learning to take empowered action, but see the need for daily structure and schedule so that I don’t self-sabotage by skipping the things that will take me in the direction I want to go (daily meditation, spiritual study, journaling, writing, exercise, nourishing meals).

Interesting picture here Betsy. The will can lean strongly toward self-sabotage, especially if it’s a safety mechanism, where self-sabotage is actually a strategy to stay safe. We have to get to the bottom of this mechanism as a strategy to meet an important need — safety — in order to truly overcome it. And then we still need that extra push of courage to step into a way of being and doing that consists of healthier strategies. Meditation is where we can build the strength to BOTH excavate the safety mechanisms AND grow courage!
