There is such a strong connection between my habitual thoughts and feelings and how they work together to keep me small. Both have played a part in keeping me from stepping out into the world as a writer. The wounding thoughts are “your words are not important/don’t make a difference,” “I don’t know enough to speak on this/others know more than I do so I should stay quiet,” “my opinions aren’t important,” to speak up makes you a target, “I don’t have the power to change or influence my life” (ie family patterns or genetics dictate how life unfolds), and to stay quiet means that I am safe. These thoughts quite naturally have led to fear, paralyzing self-doubt, staying quiet or keeping everything inside, overwhelm, anger and resentment, and ironically, being a target ; and from that has come illness (breast cancer, melanoma, mild depression) plus a hard marriage and divorce. I am seeking the “strengthening the light” power of meditation to help me step out as a writer on these experiences, as they were Life’s invitation to step into my power, define my boundaries, speak the hell up, get up and take empowered action, and own my life. (If you are new to any of this work, be patient. This is years of discovery and inner work in the writing of this one paragraph!)

Yes!!!! You have spent so long with those habitual thoughts and feelings that you REALLY have their number now! And now the strength training can come in with building the antidotes to fear and doubt: courage and faith. Because the gravitational pull of fear and doubt are no joke; they will pull you in over and over again until you have the strength to resist. And this is where meditation becomes one of life’s essentials instead of a nice to have. It’s the soul gym where you grow courage and faith, among other capabilities.

Yes absolutely , I experience this alot. It is true your thinking really does appear around you.
It feels like the world does mirror what your feeling.

This is so true! The world appears to mirror both what you think and what you feel. When that changes, so does your world. And this is hard to notice sometimes because it’s subtle and you can only see it in retrospect.
